Missing loved ones on Christmas!

Well, only a few hours until Christmas! I am thankful that I have a wonderful husband and 2 great kids! Even though I am 35 years old, I still miss my parents on Christmas. My father died when I was 8, and my mother passed away when I was 21. It seems like I don't even think about it until something reminds me of them, then it hits me!

My aunt sent me a small gift this year--a pair of pajamas. I almost cried when I opened them because when mom was alive, she would always buy us a new pair of pajamas to wear on the Christmas eve...it was kind of a tradition. After she died, I did the same for my children, but I myself never got a pair. Something hit me when I opened up those pajamas. I began to think about how much I really missed my mother! She was the best! It is easy to feel sorry for yourself when you think about these things, but then I just began to think about how lucky I am to have a good husband and two healthy children this year. It really puts things into perspective.

Christmas Eve! Totally Random Post

I got up this morning and ran to Peebles department store. I wanted to get some of their $6 Christmas bears. I can remember as a little girl mom always got us some kind of Christmas stuffed animal every year, and I thought that would be a nice tradition to start with my own family. Even though my kids are boys, they still love stuffed animals!

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year, but it can also be the most stressful. I admit that yesterday I was ready to pull the hair right out of my head! I was feeling a little guilty because I was actually thinking about how less stressful it is to go to work instead of stay home. lol!

My husband is a clean freak, so even now as I am typing he is running around the house picking up odds and ends the kids have put around the house. Even though it drives me crazy, our house is always clean so I cannot complain! He does pretty much all the house cleaning and the laundry, so I consider myself a very lucky woman!

Amazon Video on Demand has a free special offer where you can get $5.00 of free video on demand-- just go to the link http://amzn.to/gS7sSN . I really love anything that is free!

I know this post really has no topic, but I warned you about my ADHD!

Where do Babies Come From?

Last night I was sitting in my room watching the show, "I didn't know I was pregnant", and my 8 year old comes into the bed with me, snuggles up beside me and says, "Mommy, where do babies come from?"

Oh, no...the dreaded question! I tried to keep my head...."From their mommies..." I said, hoping that would pacify him. Of course it did not. "Where do the babies come out of the moms?" I tried to think of a reply that would not give out too much information. "God made a special place in a women for the babies to grow and then come out when they are ready". I was feeling pretty smart until he says..."Where's that?" "Go ask your dad...." I finally gave up. "Never mind.." he says and goes on to play his video game.

lol!

You win some, You lose some!

Good News and Bad News!

My diet went down the toilet. I was able to stay away from Mountain dew or other Colas for two days, but that is about the extent of my success. I am hoping to find new ambition at the first of the year!

The good news is I just got my 13th project funded through Donorschoose.org! This site is unbelievable. Teachers submit a project request and people from all over America donate towards projects. When a project is fully funded, they ship the items to the school. It is amazing! My most recent project was for a Cricut Expressions machine and two cartridges. I cannot wait until I get the chance to use it!

The kids had a snow day today, so their Christmas vacation started early! Luke, my 8 year old, found this math program called "Timez Attack" that works on multiplication problems and he played it most of the morning. I love when the kids get into games that actually teach them something! I downloaded the free version, and they really love it.

Only 3 days until Christmas! It seems like time is really flying by! I procrastinated on a lot of my shopping this year, which was not very good. Thank goodness for Amazon! I love Amazon, especially now that they offer Amazon Prime for free for anyone enrolled in College! I usually place an order and have my stuff the next day! They have been having some great deals too. I got some great toys for about 75% off and with free shipping and no tax you can't beat it!

Well, I hopped on Youtube and was looking at commercials from the toys of my childhood! It was great! I was able to show my kids the toys mommy had! My favorite of all times is the AG bear. I really wish I had one of these now. They came out with them right after my father passed away when I was 8 years old, and my dad's name was AG. I decided I am going to keep my eyes open and see if I can pick one up on Ebay or through a thrift shop one day!

Do you have a favorite toy you remember as a child!

My Vacation Begins!

This is the first official day of my two week vacation from work! I am a teacher, so you fellow teachers know the amazing feeling of making it to that break!

I just got on the scale this morning and was horrified at what I saw. I could not believe I had let myself gain back 25 lbs in the last 4 months. That is ridiculous! I went from eating healthy and exercising every day, to eating everything I wanted and not exercising at all. I cannot believe I let myself do that. Now I am back to square one. None of my clothes fit and I feel terrible about my appearance. So since I am off today, and the kids still had school, I decided to begin a new healthy lifestyle today. First I thought I would try a little yoga...I lasted about 10 minutes! Then I thought I would try a simple exercise DVD, I lasted about 10 minutes.

I have managed to eat healthier today. I started out the morning with two pieces of toast and a bottle of Cran-Energy. I love Cran-Energy because it gives me the Caffeine of my colas, without the calories. Then I went and bought a chicken breast, cut it up and put some of it in a stir fry I created. It included the chicken breast, chopped celery, chopped carrots, chopped onions, diced tomatoes (I just use some from a can), salt, pepper and to top it off, a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese! A very low calorie meal that is super yummy. I do not use oil, I just spray my wok with a little cooking spray. I eat two slices of toast with it. I like to use that bread that is only 35 calories a slice and is whole grain--I buy it from the bread store because I can get it for 89 cents there, instead of the $3 it cost at the grocery!

I think I am going to jump on the treadmill now and try to get 30 minutes in somehow! I cannot believe I have let myself go this much! Oh well. I guess it does no good to cry over spilt milk. If I can start putting in 30 minutes a day, maybe I can be back in the habit by the time I go back to work! Wish me luck!

My Day Off...or is it?

So it is Sunday, which for me means a day off! Unfortunately, things at home don't stop because mommy needs some rest. Do you ever find yourself trying to make up everything you can't do during the week on the weekends? Sometimes my days off leave me a lot more exhausted than work ever does!

Today was Christmas Sunday, so I had to make sure the boys were dressed up in their Christmas sweaters for church. Luke, my youngest who is 8, had been sick to his stomach for the last 48 hours, so I found myself following him around the house for the last two days making sure he was OK. My husband had to go to church early to turn on the heat then he ran off to pick up people and deliver them to church, and I had to go early and practice with the music team and the boys ever so excitedly tagged along.

Right after service, we went straight to a birthday party for my niece who just turned two. My husband failed to tell me about this party until about 11:00 P.M. the night before. So after scavenging for a present, we arrived at the party, the kids got hyped up on cake and ice cream, and now we are home again--jiggedy-jig!

Take a breath....ahhhh...

Now the boys are fighting over who gets to play the video games, even though mommy bought enough controllers for everyone. For some reason, threatening to call Santa on my cell phone has stopped working this year, and they do not care if I have a long conversation with him! It sure worked good last year!

Working Mom's Chaos!

This is a blog dedicated to all the mothers out there that have to work outside the home. I see a whole lot of websites and blogs for stay at home moms, but unfortunately, staying at home is not a possibility for many of us. We are the ultimate jugglers, trying to make a good income while at the same time make a good family. Sometimes we drop the ball, but we never give up! To all my fellow working mothers out there, keep your chin up and keep up the good work!
